Retirement Celebration

Retirement Party – Passport To Retirement (Part 1)

Retirement Through The Years Welcome Sign

My mother finally did it, she decided to retire. This was no easy decision but after years of hard work and a very fast paced work life, it was time for her to take a step back. While discussing party plans and looking at themes, she decided that she did not want a party that was sad and dreary but one of “Celebration” of the new phase of her life.

Mom loves the color blue and wanted it incorporated in her party decorations and theme along with her love of travel.(after years of working long hours, she collected most of her vacation days rather than using them). Hence the birth of her party theme, “Passport To Retirement – Sun, Beach and Sand”.

So, with the help of our family Event Stylist, we put together a a retirement celebration that rivaled that of a travel themed wedding!

(I will post the different elements of the party in 3 post)

The Journey Begins

Instead of the traditional “guest book” we opted to have a globe signed by her guest. JusPrintables created the custom  “The Journey Begins, Please Sign The Globe” sign along with the “Cards” banner for the suitcase, the “Bucket List” sign and forms and “Happy Retirement” Banner.

Retirement Bucket List

After guest signed in and left their well wishes and Bucket List suggestions (some of which were absolutely hilarious), they listened to calypso music while enjoying the Seafood bar and cocktails.

Pineapple Palm

The English proverb “Necessity is the mother of invention” comes to mind when thinking of a stylish way to display the shrimp for the seafood bar. With the inspiration from the popular “pallet re-do’s” buzzing around the web, we decided to deconstruct a pallet and created this custom boat! (Which after the party, was turned into a bookshelf for a “She Shed” details to follow soon in my DIY section)
